MISSIOLOGY PROGRAM

Christian missions focus on a rapidly changing world with a changeless Christ. The untouched masses of Asia, Africa, and Latin America, as well as the nominal Christians in Europe and North America, demand new and vigorous action- far beyond past efforts- to reach and disciple lost individuals to Christ.

Chaplain (MAJ) James D Hogsten was born in Mt. Clemons, MI and raised in Flatwoods, KY. He was awarded a BA in History from Lee University in 2000; earned an M.DIV with an emphasis in Counseling and Historical Theology from the Pentecostal Theological Seminary 2006 and completed his M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas A&M Central Texas. He is an ordained minister and endorsed military chaplain with the United Pentecostal Church International (Hazelwood, MO).

Chaplain Hogsten has been in full time ministry since 1988 and is married to the former Melissa Evans of Flatwoods, KY: together they have 5 children—Aaron, Fayeth (30) Danielle (28), Jeremiyah and Jonathan (20) and three grandchildren (Elizabeth, Leah and Silas). Chaplain Hogsten serves as the Program Chair for Missiology at Texas Bible College.

Departmental Objectives

The objectives of the Missions Department are to train the student to:
1.     Comprehend basic Bible doctrines and precepts.
2.     Prepare them with the biblical and theological studies  necessary for a Scriptural ministry.
3.     Communicate Christ cross-culturally to the world community.
4.     Develop practical skills within an intense missions-related program.
5.     The missions department is also ideal for the student who expects to remain in the homeland, but who wants to develop a  stronger missions burden or to develop a cross-cultural ministry at home.
