2020 Texas Bible College COVID-19 Readiness Plan
While we understand the role personal responsibility plays in ensuring an individuals’ health and well-being we recognize there are steps we as a college can take to make this task less intimidating. Texas Bible College supports the use of hand sanitizers, face coverings, and social distancing as tools helping to stop the spread of the coronavirus and other possible infections. TBC is committed to providing students with a safe and healthy learning environment. To this end the college encourages the use of face coverings and social distancing when appropriate. Hand sanitizing stations will also be provided in all classrooms, office buildings, social gathering areas, and public spaces on campus to help stop the spread of the coronavirus.
We ask for your understanding and cooperation with the implementation of new safety measures designed to help protect you and our larger TBC community. The following recommendations and requirements are subject to change as Federal and State mandates change. By working together and taking personal responsibility of individual health and well-being we can have a safe and healthy school year.
Faculty/Staff and Student Health Recommendations
• Each student will be required to fill out the online COVID-19 questionnaire each week.
• Face coverings are to be worn in close proximity to others not in your household (each
bay is considered a household.)
• Each student is required to have their own thermometer.
• Daily self-checks (temperature and symptoms) conducted by students and staff.
Any student or staff exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms or a temperature over 100.4
would be considered a candidate for quarantine.
Classroom/Office Recommendations
• Student disinfecting of individual areas before and after class.
• Daily disinfecting of doorknobs, and light switches.
• Limited contact with doorknobs in classrooms (doors left open when possible.)
• No more than two chairs per classroom table.
• Facemasks worn in close proximity to others not in your household.
• Individual instructors reserve the right to require face coverings in the classroom.
Dormitory Requirements
• No cross-traffic between bays by non-household members (each bay is considered a
household.)
• Daily disinfecting of high traffic areas in each bay.
• Disinfecting of sink and toilets after each use.
• No overnight guests or visitors in the dormitories until further notice.
Social Gathering Recommendations
• Daily disinfecting of social gathering areas.
• Facemasks worn in close proximity to others not in your household.
• During the Fall 2020 semester the female social gathering area is the dormitory upstairs
common area and male social gathering area is the dormitory downstairs common area.
• The outdoor basketball/volleyball pavilion and cafeteria will be open as mixed social
gathering areas.
Chapel Recommendations
• Daily disinfecting of chapel foyer.
• Disinfecting of sink and toilets after each use.
• Repositioning of chairs in the chapel to maintain social distancing.
• Facemasks worn in close proximity to others not in your household.
• Maintain social distancing between students
• Students who come to the altar area give permission for interaction with faculty and
other students.
Music Practice Area Recommendations
• Each instrument should be disinfected before and after each practice session.
• Maintain social distancing measures while in practice areas.
Cafeteria Recommendations
• Facemasks worn in close proximity to others in the food line.
• Recommend distancing while in the food line (spaces marked on the floor.)
• Disinfecting tables and chairs after every meal.
• Setup round tables with no more than four to five chairs per table.
Quarantine Recommendations
• The college will provide a quarantine area.
• Any student with a temperature of 100.4 or higher, or with suspected COVID-19
symptoms should be moved to the quarantine area.
• Delivery of all meals to students while in quarantine.
• All classwork would be available for make-up during the quarantine period.
